In order to avoid infringement upon any entity's or individual's rights, as well as to maintain my own rights, I (Rich Lawson) only copyright and claim ownership to original content and designs that appear on this Web site.
Some of this site's content orginates from materials within the public domain. The randomized images that appear in the right-hand portion of the site's header are images created from unoriginal depictions of artwork created during the Middle Ages. The site's maps are images taken from works published that no longer fall within the maximum duration of 95 years that United States copyright law allows.
Also, under the fair use doctrine of U.S. copyright law, some limited portions (quotations, single images, etc.) of movies, books, and games may appear throughout various sections of this Web site. Proper and accurate source information is included whenever possible.
All of the articles within the medieval wiki section are licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. More information about the content of the forum, as well as the gallery and blog components, is available below.
For information about how to report copyright infringement, please also see below.
There are no warranties or guarantees regarding the operation of this Web site, its downloadable material, or any of the site's available services. Download and/or use materials and services from this site at your own risk.
The staff here at Shadowed Realm finds it very important to keep all of your personal information private. We place this notice on the bottom of every page to make it easy for all users to find what information is taken on this site, and why it is used.
We use your information on Shadowed Realm just to identify you as part of the Shadowed Realm Community (a registered forum member) and to protect users on our site. We will never release any of your information to a third party for any reason, unless there is some legal reason that obligates us to do so.
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer that is tied to information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. Cookies are only used for the forum and wiki. You decide the type of cookie used - it depends on whether or not you "Stay Logged In".
By setting a cookie on our site, users would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time. If users reject the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site. For example, you will not be able to post on the forums. Persistent cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we at Shadowed Realm are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site. If a link to your Web site appears somewhere on the Shadowed Realm Web site and you would like it removed, please send an e-mail to email@example.com.
Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online - for example on message boards, through e-mail, or in chat areas - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, by posting personal information online that is publicly accessible, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
If you need to contact any member of the staff for any reason, please feel free visit the contact information page to learn about the best methods of contact.
The staff at Shadowed Realm reserves the right to edit, publish, and distribute any materials submitted to the site royalty-free for perpetuity. Credit will be given to the creator(s) of any such submissions, however, and no one at Shadowed Realm will claim any other rights (such as ownership rights) over the submitted material.
These terms and conditions will be applied to any submissions upon their receipt here at Shadowed Realm. If you disagree with these terms and conditions, do not submit any material.
Any visitor- or member-submitted content appearing in any section of this Web site, (including but not limited to the medieval forum and the medieval wiki) is the sole responsibility of whomever submits, posts, or uploads this material. If published materials infringe upon any entities' rights, a member of the Shadowed Realm staff will remove or modify the contents upon learning of the infringement (see below). I (Rich Lawson) do not endorse the accuracy or reliability of any advice, opinion, statement, or information that any visitor, member, and/or staff member produces or submits anywhere on this site, and I disclaim all responsibility for any such content.
All donations in support of the site are greatly appreciated. All donations go toward updating, upgrading, and expanding the site, as well as any host/server fees or anything else that will help run and maintain this site.
The staff here at Shadowed Realm makes no warranties or guarantees regarding its downloadable material. Download and/or use materials from this site at your own risk. Be sure to read the text files included with all downloads for more information.
Working as a staff member of Shadowed Realm is completely voluntary. Staff member positions can be terminated at any time by either the administration of this site or the staff member him/herself. Staff members should expect to receive no benefits or compensation for their contributions to the site since no one at Shadowed Realm is under any obligation to provide either.
Any content found on the site's forum, including the gallery and blog components, does not reflect the views of the site or any of the site's staff. This site maintains an open forum through which varying viewpoints may be expressed. Shadowed Realm disclaims all responsibility for posted and uploaded content. Content within the forum and its components is the responsibility of the member who posts or uploads it.
Members of the medieval forum are allowed to post and upload content in a variety of forms, including but not limited to uploading avatars and uploading images to the gallery. The staff here at Shadowed Realm only attempts to monitor for explicitly inappropriate content. Please report any content that appears anywhere within the forums, including the gallery or blog components, that violates intellectual property rights or is inappropriate.
