In my Spanish literature class we're reading Don Quixote, which my professor says is a satire of the genre of medieval romances - tales of "knights errant" and such. I was wondering if anyone knew of other satire of medieval works that were written before this? I wonder: was it in the medieval psyche to mock literature? Or did this come later, with the Renaissance and the Enlightenment?

"Everyone feels benevolent if nothing happens to be annoying him at the moment."
