Medieval Glossary

Falchion

A short sword that had a heavy, straight, and blunt back edge that met with the curved sharpened edge of the blade at a sharp point. The falchion was sometimes used by archers early during the medieval period. Later in the Middle Ages, it was used more by mounted soldiers.
