Abu Newas ( c.760-810)
Abu Newas was an Arabic poet of Persian descent famed as a lyrictyist and writer of erotic arabic poetry. He was educated as Basra, and spent a year in the desert amongst the arabs. He later lived under the protection of Caliph Harun al-Rashid in Baghdad.
The Divan des Abu Nuwas translated by A. von Kremer was published in Vienna in 1855; in Arabic in Cairo in 1860; and in Beirut in 1884.
