Abulfeda (1273-1331)
File under Construction
Abulfeda was an Arabian historian and geographer. He was born in Damascus, and whilst a youth distinguished himself in the campaigns against both the the crusaders and the Tartars. In 1310 the Marmeluke Sultan Nasir raised him to royal rank and made him governor of the kingdom of Hamah (in modern Syria), which he ruled as an independant ally of the Sultan Nasir.
The two most best known of his numerous works are a universal history and a treatise on geography. The history is of especial value, being one of the chief sources of information concerning the Saracens
