Adam of Bremen (11th Century)
Adam of Bremen was a German historian and geographer during the 11th century. In 1068 he was appointed canon of Bremen Cathedral under Archbishop Adalbert and head of the cathedral school , and in 1072 he began his Gesta Hammaburgensis Ecclesiae, a history of the Archbishops of Hamburg-Bremen. This work has provided valuable information on German politics of the period and is one of the greatest early medieval geographical works.
Little other information survives about the particulars of his life.
