Adamnan (c.630-704)
St. Adamnan (or Adomnan) was born of a family called Hy-Neill in Ulster. He was educated at the monastery of Conards and became famous as the author for his work on the life of St Columba. In 679 he was appointed abbot of of Iona, ande later, whilst visiting his pupil Aldfrid, King of Northumbtia, he was persuaded ty the Venerable Bede to accept the Roman observance of Easter.
