Albucasis (936-1013)
Albucasis (or Abu'l Qasim) was a famous Arab-Spanish physician born at El Zahra, near Córdoba in 936. Albucasis wrote a great encyclopedia of medicine and surgery in 30 books, or sections, entitled Altasrif. The surgical section would have a great influence on medieval European medicine being the first independant work on the subject and the first to contain illustrations of surgical instruments.
