Ambrosius Aurelianus (5th century)
A member of a prominent Romano-British family, Ambrosius Aurelianu, known as Emrys in the Welsh tradition, led the resistance of the British against the Saxons and achieved a significant military victory (according to St.Gildas) driving the Saxons back to the Isle of Thanet.
