Aneirin (6th Century)
Aneirin was a 6th century Welsh poet.. His Y Gododdin presents individual portraits of British warriors who marched from Manaw Gododdin (near modern Edinburgh) and were overwhelmed by a Saxon force at Catraeth (Catterick, Yorkshire).
Aneirin's surviving text would be recorded in the 13th century Book of Aneirin
