Anthemius

Anthemius was a 6th century Greek mathematician and architect. He was born in Tralles (Lydia) and is most famous, during the reign of the Emperor Justinian, for commencing the rebuilding of the Church of St Sophia in Constantinople which had been destroyed by fire in 531. The work finally being completed by Isodorus of Miletus in 537. He was also noted for writing several mathematical treatises.
