Canute
Canute I (aka Cnut) 'The Great' (c.994-1035) became King of Denmark in 1014 and claimed the throne of England, which had been won by his father, Sweyn Forkbeard in 1013. After a protracted struggle with Edmund Ironside, King of Wessex he became King of England in 1017 following Edmund's murder.
