Colet
John Colet (c,1467-1519) was an English humanist, influenced by the Italian reformer Savonarola and the Dutch scholar Erasmus. He was Ordained in 1496 and lectured at Oxford.
He reacted against the scholastic tradition in his interpretation of the Bible, and founded modern biblical exegesis. In 1505 he became dean of St Paul's Cathedral, London.
