Diaz
Bartholomeu Diaz( c.1450-1500) was a noted Portuguese explorer. He was the first European to reach the Cape of Good Hope, in 1488, and to establish a route around Africa which opened up a sea route to India. He drowned during an expedition with Pedro Cabra.
