Pepys Diary

Pepys Diary:

Samuel Pepys (1633 - 1703) was not only a valuable public servant during the reigns of the Stuart Kings of England - King Charles II and King James II, but a noted diarist.

Pepys was a singularly unusual man (for his time) in that he kept a daily record of life and events in England and abroad for the years 1660-1669.  This Diary contains two very important events that occurred in England at the time - the Great Fire of London (1666) and the Plague (1665).

The Diary was written at the beginning of what would be a most interesting and honoured career.  And his Diary is considered to be an important historical document for the Restoration period in English history.  Pepys himself would be viewed as a man of vision and remarkable forethought.
