Happy New Year, everyone!! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did on New Year's Eve. Jenna and Branden came over and we all played with one of my new toys, the Wii Sports Resort. Swordfighting is awesome! I have also been really enjoying playing Civilization V and eating delicious Christmas treats.
So here's what I read in December:
Gave Up On: All Clear by Connie Willis. I feel like the momentum stalled in this sequel to Blackout, which sucked because I was really into the whole thing at the ending of Blackout. Oh well.
Manga: Black Butler by Yana Toboso. More manga the book club kids wanted to read.
Regular Books:

Regular Books:
- Luka and the Fire of Life by Salman Rushdie. Magical realism with an interesting video-gaming twist. Good for people in my generation or younger who may be looking for an introduction to this author or genre.
- Lucy by Laurence Gonzales. Interesting story about a girl who was genetically engineered, leaving here with a significant amount of bonobo DNA.
- Blood on My Hands by Todd Strasser. A mystery/thriller for teens, where the main character is suspected of murder and goes on the run to try and prove her innocence.
- Big Nate: In a Class by Himself and Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Peirce. Really fun books for elementary school kids in the vein of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
- Alcatraz vs. the Shattered Lens by Brandon Sanderson. I hope he never stops writing these hilarious books.
- Matched by Ally Condie. Dystopian sci-fi for teens... can't stay away! I tore through it in one night.
- Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card. Great story, but a bit confusing for me as I was trying to follow some of the time travel/space-time stuff.
- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Jenna MUST read this! It's great high fantasy.
- Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer. First in the popular Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series about a teen vampire. Meh.
