When Richard Lionheart set forth on the third crusade, he stopped off in Sicily to buy ships and recruit archers. Inspecting the recruits he paused to examine a longbow, asking,"Is that a yew bow?"
The Italian indignantly answered "Sure, datsa my bow!"
