My main fascination with Crecy is that it was the first use of gunpowder weaponry in open battle in Europe.


But to what effect? All we hear about from Crecy in general was the efficiency of the archers.

I went down to Stratford in April....and watched Sir Trevor Nun's "King Lear" staring some bloke called Ian Mckellen. :)

Also took the opportunity to visit all the historic places...filled with tourists of course, but by far the most authentic (and atmospheric) was Anne Hathaways cottage (I'm sure visiting during the luch hour helps though!)
