XXXV

Sung

Aucassin has gone
to Beaucaire his city.
He governs his country
and the earldom without encountering opposition.
But he swore by God his Majesty
that he was much more troubled
by Nicolette with the luminous face
and for all her relatives
when he had lost all of his.
"My sweet friend with the luminous face,
now I know not where to look for you,
although God has not created any kingdom
where, by land or by sea,
I would not go to look for you,
if I thought I could find you."
