There were the shepherds,
Emeret and Martinet,
Fruelin and Jeannot,
Robichon and Aubriet.
And one of them said, "My dear friends,
young Aucassin is in God's favor,
yes truly, he's a handsome adolescent;
and the young girl in the blouse,
the little blonde,
with the luminous face and lively eye,
who gave us pennies
with which we bought tarts,
pocket knives with sheaths,
penny whistles and bags of sweets,
clubs and pipes,
